On April 15, 2012, he released his first official mixtape The Product. With collaborations from Schoolboy Q, Cihy The Prince, Trae Tha Truth and others. The mixtape is well received by the public since it is downloaded more than 50,000 times and is thus certified "Silver".
On September 3, 2012, he released his mixtape Throwback. Its popularity continues to increase across the United States and its fanbase, the Alsina Nation, is built as it goes. On May 6, 2013, he released his mixtape and the continuation of his first mixtape The Product 2 with this mixtape he increased his fanbase and attracted.

Following this successful 2014, August Alsina is featured in the 2014 promotion of XXL magazine's “Freshmens”, which rewards emerging rappers / singers to watch closely.
